It can seem that everyone is teaching or traveling these days, but the same applies to studying. Students can receive degrees from some of the most prestigious universities around the globe while traveling wherever they like. Online programs and professional essays writing service platforms make it possible to travel while still studying. Even professors of college can teach abroad.

In the past year, I obtained my 200-hour yoga certification. I also have been traveling the world looking for places to teach yoga. To date, I have been offered teaching positions in Thailand, Malaysia, and Cambodia. It has been an amazing journey of personal growth as both a teacher as well as as a person. It’s not a lonely venture. I have met many other yoga teachers who are doing the same thing, and they are succeeding. Don’t worry, there are many ways to get your foot into the door. You can also teach abroad.
- Create a great Yoga resume
Make sure you have a resume ready to go before you leave for the sunset. You may be able to secure a job abroad before you even board a plane. Your resume must be professional and stand out. Be authentic to yourself as a teacher and sell yourself. You can also include any additional qualifications or work experience, such as massage, nutrition, mindfulness, and other relevant skills. This will show potential employers how valuable you are to their company. Include a picture of yourself, and a link to any yoga-related social media accounts that you have. You can ask your instructor if they attended the Thailand or Bali Yoga Teachers Training with All Yoga.
- Online teaching jobs are available
Websites such as Yoga Trade, Yoga Travel Jobs or Yoga Teacher Jobs on Jooble make it easy to begin looking for a job even before you leave your home country. You can join private Facebook groups to learn more about the jobs available, the role and the location of the job. Start searching online for local yoga studios if you’ve already booked your flight. You can also find job openings on social media. After teaching for several months at a Malaysian yoga studio, I was offered a position as a teacher through their Facebook page.
- You can teach in resorts/retreat centres.
Send your resume to resorts and hotels that are interested in you. Spend time looking for hotels or resorts that offer on-site fitness centers, yoga classes, or gyms. Then get in touch with them by email or phone. After emailing several resorts, I was offered a position on a retreat center and a teaching job on a private 5* island. These high-end resorts often offer higher salaries, better accommodation, and better food for teachers. Many resorts may also be seeking permanent yoga teachers.
- Volunteer
Register on sites like Workaway to search for volunteer opportunities around the globe. Many different projects offer volunteer positions that include accommodation and teaching. Help with other tasks such as writing blog posts, creating logos, or cooking meals for staff. Volunteering is a great way to save money and gain valuable teaching experience.
- Teaching at guesthouses/hostels
You can offer your services as a local teacher in exchange for accommodation and food. This will allow you to save money. Although smaller guesthouses may not be able offer payment, they will be open to discussing other options to exchange your classes. You can also connect with other travellers at your hostel to offer an exchange. They might be able to teach you a skill, take photos for you, or even offer healing sessions. There are many options.
- Network
For tips and job opportunities, you can network with other teachers who are traveling. You may be able to help them organize retreats or YTTs, as many teachers will be on the move. My travels have brought me in contact with so many amazing yoga teachers and I’ve received many great recommendations.
- Run classes at cafes/ health food stores
Many cafes in Northern Thailand and Southeast Asia are health conscious, offering a variety of services such as yoga classes or a place to hold classes. To find out where you can teach, contact the owners and see what they can do. Even better, you can make deals to get a free cup of tea or juice after every session or a discount on your class passes. If you are going to be staying in one location for several weeks, you might be able to arrange one or more yoga workshops.
- Believe it’s possible
This tip is perhaps the most important. It is to believe it is possible to teach abroad. After you’ve packed everything you need, your greatest asset is your belief in yourself. It can be scary to venture out into the vast unknown. But don’t let fear get in your way. Your adventure is waiting for you if you trust in yourself.
