It all started in…
Six years ago, I started my yoga journey in medical school. At the time, I was a newly-matern to Sofia, a 2-year-old girl. I was looking for ways to manage stress. I needed a way to exercise at home that was beneficial for both my body and my mind. So, my husband suggested that we start a yoga class. We found Esther’s YouTube channel in no time. After the first class, we were hooked. Esther’s classes had a calmness and serenity that resonated deeply with me.
My practice has evolved over the years, and even though I sometimes felt like I was “falling off the yoga wagon”, something has always pulled at me. My body isn’t the most flexible, so I have struggled to accept and learn from my limitations. This acceptance on and off the mat is among my greatest yoga benefits.
My daughter’s involvement
Sofia, my daughter, is 8 years old. She has been practicing yoga with me ever since. Sofia copied my postures during my videos and tried to crawl through my Downward Dog. As she grew older, she began to take yoga more seriously. Sometimes she does her classes and sometimes even meditates to ease her emotions. She even recorded some yoga videos to show other children the poses she knows and some she invented.
Sofia’s words
Sofia shares her yoga experience.
Sofia regularly practices with me in regular classes or the children’s acro yoga videos. She wanted to share her recipe with other EkhartYoga children.
