Wouldn’t it be great to practice yoga at home regularly? These are some tips to get you started.
The most famous quote of Ashtanga Guru Pattabhi Jois is ” Practice, and all is coming.” These words are a sign that truth will reveal itself to you through the practice of yoga. With truth, there is a deep peace.
It can be difficult to start a regular practice of yoga for many people. These are some tips to get you started.
- Find a spot that is comfortable for you to practice yoga .You can make your yoga more enjoyable if you have extra space. It is very inviting to have your yoga mat out and ready for use. However, most of us need to be flexible and create space for when we practice. Find a quiet spot with plenty of space. A wall that isn’t in use can also be useful as a prop. It can be helpful and nice to add some ambience with an incense stick or a candle if you wish. Candles and incense can be used as an optional accessory to yoga. Yoga can be done anywhere you want, provided you don’t bump into any tables or chairs. I have practiced in my living room while my husband eats breakfast, reads the newspaper, and sometimes even comments. Although it wasn’t ideal, I was able to get my practice in. This is the most important message in this article. Be creative and get on the mat! Enjoy your practice and create the best environment possible!

- 14-day trialGet your yoga accessories
You only need a yoga pad, non-slip. Although the yoga mat market is large, it’s worth spending a bit more to get a mat that will last and suits your needs. While blocks are great, you can also replace them with books or other household items. However, I have used blocks for years and a stack of blankets and pillows instead. Accessory items, such as a yoga mat or accessories, are not necessary to practice… Just be creative!
Accessory items, such as a yoga mat, are not necessary for practice. I’ve been to places without a mat and found a piece to practice on. Even in hotels, I have practiced on beds that didn’t allow me to roll out a mat. Be creative… there are no excuses
- Stay safe, prevent injury
This tip is the best. Be aware of your boundaries and be careful in areas that are vulnerable. knees and hips , spine , and neck are all particularly vulnerable. If you feel any pain, adjust, soften or get out of the pose if necessary. Do not push or force. Warm up before you attempt more difficult poses. Also, make sure to keep checking in to see if you feel comfortable in any pose. Be mindful when you move in and out of poses , or between poses. These are times where there is a risk of injury.
- Choose your yoga style / routine
What are your plans for when you’re on your mat? The first question you should ask is What do your body and mind require?
To get your juices flowing, you can choose Vinyasa flow or something more gentle and restorative to calm your mind and body. Yoga is a practice that can be done daily. You will learn more about the benefits of each style and what your body needs at any given time. Don’t waste your time reading through too many descriptions of online classes. It is the nature of the mind to search for the best class to solve all your problems. You have to create it. You can also choose a Yoga Program that combines a number of classes, or you can pick from Playlists which are playlists of classes created by Ekhart Yoga teachers and fellow members.
Choose a teacher style, preferred duration, and specific use (or any combination thereof) from the classes page filters. Then, search for a title that appeals to you and then go for it! You can make the class your own by practicing with complete awareness and as little resistance as you can. You can breathe through any part that you don’t enjoy and watch your reactions. Reacting on the mat can have an impact on your daily life. You will encounter situations in your daily life that you do not like. Remember Pattabhi Jois’ words “Do your practice and all is coming”.
Your yoga practice will help you surrender to the present moment. You’ll learn to let go of trying to change the world and stop resisting the present. You will also be able to apply this perspective in your daily life. You will find peace in accepting what is.

- Savasana is a relaxing and calming practice.
After a practice of yoga, it is important that you allow your body to relax in Savasana. It takes time for the nervous system to absorb the benefits of yoga. It is possible to feel wired after a yoga class, or even after an intensive one.
- Practise yoga regularly
Even if you only practice yoga once per week, it is still beneficial. It’s great to practice yoga three times per week, but it is equally beneficial to do it every day. What works for and? It is better to set goals that you can achieve, such as practicing three times per week and feeling accomplished. This will make you feel proud and more motivated than trying to practice every day. This will make you more likely to skip practice. Be honest and set realistic goals. Then, do what you can. Even a 10-minute yoga practice counts.
- Enjoy your practice!
Do not overdo it. If you don’t love your yoga practice, you won’t be able to keep up with it. You should find it enjoyable. If yoga seems like a chore, you might try a different style or teacher.
- Get on your mat and practice, and you will see the results.
