It can be difficult to learn a new skill, and yoga is no exception. These are our seven tips for beginners to yoga.
The basics

Like any new skill it will take time to master yoga. You can recall being a child and learning to ride a bicycle. Before you could move to two-wheeled bikes, you were on training wheels. It is a good place to begin with yoga. A beginners yoga course will teach you the basics of breathing, asanas, sequences (such as sun salutations), and alignment to get the best out of each pose. After completing a beginners’ yoga course, you will be able to take open classes like Yin or slow flow yoga.
Find your tribe
There are many styles and teacher styles for yoga. Different styles and teachers are just like different types of coffee or tea. You can try different styles, such as slow flow and yin yoga, and you will find the one that suits you best.
Be gentle with yourself
Mastering any skill is a process. You didn’t learn how to read or write overnight. Yoga is no different. Do not expect to be able to do everything right away. Yoga is all about the journey. Relax and enjoy your yoga practice. You’ll be amazed at how far you have come after a 10-week beginner yoga course. Your yoga journey will never be over, so take it easy and enjoy every moment.
Fancy pants are not necessary

Bowern offers some stunning prints if you prefer prints.
Be consistent in your practice
